Temporary Pace Maker Wires: complication and safety issues

It is a routine practice to insert temporary pacemaker wires for cardiac surgery patients. In selected patients' temporary pacemakers are helpful on the management of cardiac surgery patients intra, and post operatively. Although, this practice is generally safe; however small fraction of patient may have complications at the time of insertion, during pacing postoperatively, at time of pacemaker wires removal or if temporary wires are retained inside the body. Selected cases of different complications associated with temporary pace maker wires usage will be presented and will discuss safety issues of temporary pace maker wires usage
